Anthony Parker has retired from basketball. This report from CBS Cleveland says that the 37-year old guard is hanging it up after 9 years in the NBA and 6 years overseas.
"I wanted to make that decision after the season and make sure that is what I wanted to do,"Parker said in an email. "I’m at peace with it and excited for whatever the future has for me."
Parker played three seasons for the Cavaliers and 7.7 points and 2.9 rebounds in 27.7 minutes per game. He was not under contract with the Cavaliers for next year so nobody really expected him back anyway. He will be missed for his ability to bounce balls off of Danny Green's head -- something they worked on in practice frequently.
Parker showed that he clearly wasn't able to contribute anything meaningful to an NBA team last year. This is clearly the right move for him. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him hired by the Cavs' front office for some role as his relationship with Chris Grant is said to be quite good.
In other news that has an equal amount of impact on the Cavaliers draft tomorrow, I just had a nice tall glass of 1% milk.
