Anthony Parker, new general manager of the Magic

The Orlando Magic have made Anthony Parker their new general manager, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski, journalist for ESPN. After serving as assistant John Hammond, the former player will replace him in the position after he has decided to move to an advisory position, ending 32 years holding positions as assistant coach and league executive.

Hammond arrived in Orlando in 2017 after his time with the Bucks, in which he was chosen Executive of the Year (2010) and was responsible for changing the history of Wisconsin by selecting Giannis Antetokounmpo in 15th place in the 2013 draft. Since his arrival at the Magic, he has worked to generate an exciting young core, which now has players like Paolo Banchero or Franz Wagner on which to grow.

At the same time, he had also been preparing the ground to hand over his position to Parker, who has been working in the franchise practically since his retirement from professional basketball in 2012. With nine years of experience as a player in the NBA behind him, he began contributing to the team as a scout and gradually grew, first becoming a G League executive, later assistant to the general manager, and now taking the final leap. Anthony will work hand in hand with Jeff Weltman, president of operations, and together with him he will try to continue building a project that has exciting strands.

Orlando has also promoted its other assistant general manager, Pete D'Alessandro, who in his case has become vice president of operations.
