The Kings are run (questionably) by Vlade Divac, the starting center on their very-good early-2000s teams.
He’s trying to hire Peja Stojakovic, the sharp-shooting small forward on those squads. In our post about that addition, Sean Highkin joked:

Jackson was a backup point guard on those teams, the gold standard for a sixth man in the NBA for a while.
Like Divac and Stojakovic, Jackson was a heady player. There are positive indicators these three would work competently in an NBA front office.
But if you limit potential hires to former teammates, it unnecessarily narrows the talent pool and makes it too likely the franchise won’t operate at maximum ability. Perhaps, Divac hasn’t done that and just happened to put Stojakovic and Jackson atop his list – but what have Divac and the Kings done to deserve the benefit of the doubt?
