Stockton Kings head coach Bobby Jackson leaving to join 76ers coaching staff

After two years at the helm of the NBA G-League Stockton Kings and a stellar playing career with the Sacramento Kings, Bobby Jackson is heading east.

Jackson announced on Sunday that he'll be joining the coaching staff for the Philadelphia 76ers as the assistant coach. He will be joining the 76ers' newly built coaching staff under Nick Nurse, who coached for the Toronto Raptors for four seasons.

Jackson won the Sixth Man of the Year award in 2003 when he averaged 15.2 points and 3.7 rebounds off Sacramento’s bench. He was an assistant with the Kings in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons. His first head coaching opportunity came with the Stockton Kings in 2021. In the 2022-23 season, he led the Kings to a 25-7 overall record and No. 1 seed in the postseason.

The 12-year NBA veteran will likely work with Tyrese Maxey and the other young guards on the roster to help them continue to develop. Development is one of Jackson's specialties as he helped players grow in the G-League and NBA levels for the Kings.

In the meanwhile, Stockton Kings will be searching for a new head coach ahead for the 2023-24 season.
